The first filter designed was a Twin-T notch filter, hence the name TT Electronics, Incorporated. That name was shortened to TTE, Inc. in 1975. Before you purchase RF filters, you should be aware of the different types:
Bessel Filters exhibit a constant time delay in the passband of the filter.
Butterworth Filters are more selective than Bessel Filters and offer both monotonic passband and stopbands.
Chebyshev Filters have a low ripple passband and monotonic stopbands. The passband ripple is 0.25dB typically.
Elliptical Function Filters offer better selectivity, however, they have passband ripple and notches in the stopband. Typical ripple is +/-0.25dB.
Gaussian Filters are designed to pass a step function with zero overshoot and minimum rise. Similar to Bessel Filters the offer limited selectivity.
